DUTERTENOMICS! RICHER PH!

The economic and development program of Duterte Admin or dubbed as "DuterteNomics" aims to:

1. Grow the economy--sustainably, inclusively
2. Solve poverty
3. Ease the congestion in Mega Manila

It is in line with our President's goal to provide job and business opportunities to millions of Filipinos so that immigration and working overseas become a choice instead of a necessity.

As Sec. Carlos Dominguez aptly put it:

"We must prepare the economy to provide meaningful jobs for them or else risk building an alienated and discontented generation."

It aims to transform the Philippines into a high middle-income economy come 2022.

BOHOL: AFP Recovers Body in Shallow Grave

INABANGA, Bohol-A body was found in a shallow grave early Thursday morning in Barangay Lonoy Cainsican, at least a kilometer away from Barangay Napo here where suspected members of the bandit group Abu Sayyaf and government troopers engaged in heavy gunfight on Tuesday.

Captain Jojo Mascariñas, spokesperson of the 302nd Brigade, said the body was discovered about 7 a.m. when the military were conducting clearing operations in Barangay Lonoy Cainsican, an adjacent village of Napo.

He said the body looked like it had been buried within 24 hours after the man died.
Mascariñas declined to say that the body belonged to an Abu Sayyaf member who died during the heavy gunfight with the joint police and military team.

He said the body was brought to a funeral home in Barangay Badiang, also in Inabanga, to start processing the identification to determine if he was part of the bandit group.
If confirmed, this would bring to six the total number of Abu Sayyaf members whom the military claimed to have been killed during the gun-battle.

But some residents claimed that two of those killed – a man and his wife – were residents of the village who were killed in the crossfire.
Mascariñas said they were verifying the identity of another body on suspicion that he was Joselito Melloria, a native of Barangay Napo who was seen escorting 10 armed men on Monday, a day before the gun-battle.
But some residents claimed they saw Melloria borrowing a shovel, after the military declared Napo safe from the Abu Sayyaf.

Nihansa Corsino, a resident of Barangay Lonoy Cainsican, told authorities that Melloria was wounded when he knocked on his door to ask for help.

He said he knew Melloria since they were neighbors.
“Please let me borrow a shovel and please feed us because we are hungry,” he quoted Melloria as saying.
He reluctantly extended assistance to Melloria because he got scared when he saw Melloria was armed.

A relative of Melloria, who asked not to be named, said the house of Corsino was near a cave which is owned by the family of Melloria.
“Probably, Joselito is hiding in the cave there because he knew the place,” the source said.

Abu Rami killed!

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief-of-staff Gen. Eduardo Año on Wednesday confirmed that Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) leader Abu Rami was one of the six bandits killed in the encounter with government troops in Inabanga town, Bohol.
“Yes, Abu Rahmi is among those Abu Sayyaf killed in Bohol operation, six killed among the enemies, our troops recovered another body on the site of encounter,” he added.

In the same encounter, three soldiers and a police officer were also killed.
With this development, the AFP chief said the ASG must think twice of challenging government security forces and trying to sow terror, the AFP chief stressed.
“I recognized the heroism of our soldiers, for doing the ultimate sacrifice as fastest as possible, I also acknowledge the help of the citizens who reported to authorities the presence of the armed men,” Año added.
The AFP chief also called the ASG leader’s death a major blow to the bandit organization.
“It’s a major blow, Abu Rami participated in Samal kidnapping and also on the Canadians (John Ridsdel and Robert Hall). I can declare that the threat is over, successfully after the siege in Barangay Napo, Inabanga, Bohol, although we are still pursuing some of the remnants of the groups, our assault… continues to scour the area,” Año said.
The Bohol encounter erupted after civilians reported sighting three suspicious looking pumpboats, carrying heavily-armed men, entering the Sitio Ilaya riverside Monday night.

How Suspected Abus Penetrated Bohol

INABANGA TOWN, Bohol – Julita Cenabre was trembling in fear as she was holding on to their three-month-old granddaughter at the elementary school in Barangay Kawayan, Inabanga town, Bohol.
She was not used to the exchange of heavy artillery and the sounds of bombs exploding as government troopers hunted down at least 60 suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group...

One of the most famous attractions in Bohol, Cholocate Hills are a collection of hills (no less than 1268 in number) that spreads at about 50 square kilometers throughout the Barangays of Sagbayan, Carmen and Sierra Bullones in the centre of Bohol Island itself.

The hills which are covered with grass are uniform in shape, and about 30 to 50 meters in height, the largest standing 120 meters high. During dry season, the color of the grass covering turns cholocate brown, thus, the name Chocolate Hills was derived from. On other seasons, the hills are green in color.

To this date, there has been no official explanation agreed upon on how the hills were formed. There different theories about the formation of the hills.
The most common belief is they were an ancient coral limestone reef that was shaped by many thousands of years erosion by both water and wind.

The hills also have a legend. The first legend tells of two feuding giants who in battling with each other hurled rocks, boulders and sand trying to destroy there foe, who in the end became friends. The mess of the battlefield which the two giants forgot to clean gave birth to the Chocolate Hills.

The second legend, which is romantic in nature, is again about a giant called Arogo who was extremely powerful and youthful. Arogo fell in love with Aloya who was a simple mortal. Aloya’s death caused Arogo much pain and misery. In his sorrow he could not stop crying, when his tears dried the Chocolate Hills were formed.

A uniqueness of this place is not only the beauty of the landscape. So far there is no consensus about the origin of this natural monument. According to one of versions, Chocolate Hills of Bohol was formed ages ago by the uplift of coral deposits and the action of rain water and erosion. The second ones says that the grassy hills were once coral reefs that erupted from the sea in a massive geologic shift. Wind and water put on the finishing touches over hundreds of thousands of years. According to the third one these hills are the remains of volcanic activity covered with limestone.

The Chocolate Hills is listed by Philippines by the Philippine Tourism Authority as one of the tourist destinations in the Philippine, and it has been declared the country's 3rd National Geological Monument. It is also proposed for inclusion in the UNESCOWorld Heritage List.

HOW TO GET THERE!

How To Get to Chocolate Hills from Tagbilaran?

Take a bus to Carmen (preferrably Yellow Bus) at a bus station near Island City Mall. Trip schedules may vary. Ask a driver to take you off at Chocolate Hills. There is a billboard on the road, so you will not miss it. The road take 1.5-2 hours and costs 60-80 pesos depending on the type of public transport. Then you need to go around 10 minutes up to reach a ticket office. If you prefer “habal-habal” transport or a car / motorbike rental service than you don’t need to stop at the main road, you can go directly to the ticket office.

How To Get to Chocolate Hills from Tubigon?

You can get to Chocolate Hills from Tubigon via Carmen city. Take a van to Carmen at Tubigon bus terminal. The bus terminal located 1 kilometer away from Tubigon port. The road takes 1-2 hours and costs 50-80 pesos. In Carmen you can take a bus that goes to Tagbilaran and take off at Chocolate Hills. But it’s much more convenient to take a motorbike or tricycle there. In this case negotiate with motorbike or tricycle driver to get you to the ticket office, not just to a crossing to Chocolate Hills. You can take tricycle for 100 pesos. The road took 15-20 minutes.
